Liu Qi Wen
刘启文 (end of 19th century – beginning of 20th century)
Teacher Liu Qi Wen, fellow student of Chen Zi Zheng, was taught the art by his father Liu Cheng You. He himself taught the eagle system in his birthplace, the village Guzhuang, in the area of Xiongxian.
Teachers Liu Qi Wen and Chen Zi Zheng are considered the two most significant figures in the propagation of the “eagle”. Some of Wen’s most well-known students were: Liu Zhi Cheng, Liu Zhi Xiang, Xu Jing Bo, Liu Wan Qing, Liu Zhan Wu, Liu Shu Yun, Liu Shu Tian, Liu Jin Ge, Liu Fa Meng and Li Bao Ying, who later became the teacher of my teacher, Guo Xian He. Afterwards, most of these students also trained with Cheng Zi Zheng, when around the end of the 1910s, they were called to assist in wushu classes, as the art had become quite popular in Hong Kong and the surrounding regions.
